Big Apple Basketball Invitational 2016

Big Apple Basketball (BAB) will host the 13th Annual Big Apple Basketball Invitational on Saturday, January 16 and Monday, January 18, 2016 at Baruch College in New York City. The invitational features 16 top high school and prep school teams from New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia and North Carolina.

The invitational will feature New York schools, Benjamin Cardozo, Iona Prep, Archbishop Stepinac, Long Island Lutheran, and Queens High School of Teaching; along with Sacred Heart (Connecticut), Friendship Charter (Washington, DC), Bullis (Maryland),

Higher Than 7 Presents: Irish Boxing Show on PhillyCAM

We are excited to help promote the best up and coming fighters in Philadelphia and around the world.

Higher Than 7 is proud to announce that the Irish Boxing Show will air on PhillyCAM EVERY Friday night @ 8pm. For those in the Philly area with Comcast tune in on channel 66 and 966 and those with Verizon Fios tune in on channel 29 and 30. 

Harrowgate Boxing Club's John Gallagher and Charley Sgrillo founded the Irish Boxing Show 15 years ago, which matches top amateur fighters from Belfast, Northern Ireland against top amateur fighters from Philadelphia, USA.

Young Innovators Fair 2016

The Young Innovators Fair (http://younginnovatorsfair.com/), a K-12, massive STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) event, was held this weekend at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA. 20,000 attendees visited the fair over the new year weekend, and were treated to an incredible amount of activities, performances, and exhibitions for parents and kids of all ages.

The fair consisted of 10 distinct innovation worlds. Builders Boulevard, Pilots Pad, Lab Rats-Lair, Robots Retreat, Numbers Nation, Performers Paradise, Sorcerers Square, Conservationists Corner, Hackers Hideout, and Biologists Bay. Each world provided activities, and exhibits designed to attract children of varying interests, and curiosity levels.

DeeJay Da Singa Hosts Higher Than 7 Open Mic

We at Higher Than 7 believe in the value of artist development, so we have teamed up with legendary Philadelphia bookstore and establishment Black and Nobel and TROAN Music's Deejay Da Singa to bring you an open mic like no other. Every Wednesday night at 9pm at Black and Nobel on Broad and Erie, Deejay Da Singa hosts some of the best talent from the City of Brotherly Love. We want to give independent artists a platform to share their talent, as well as gain stage experience. We are here to support you. $10 cover and ladies in free. Big Apple Basketball Challenge

After a four year absence, Big Apple Basketball hosted it's ninth annual Big Apple Basketball Challenge at Baruch College. This event was New York City Basketball at its best, showcasing some of the best upcoming talent out of NYC. 

In the day's match ups: 

  • Archbishop Molloy defeated Boys and Girls: 65 - 57
  • Monsignor Scallon defeated Thurgood Marshall: 78 - 61
  • Thomas Jefferson defeated Cardinal Hayes: 74 - 75

Higher Than 7 Covers Big Apple Basketball Challenge

The Big Apple Basketball Challenge is a basketball event to showcase the top high school public league and catholic league teams.  The BAB Challenge is designed to show the supremacy of New York City’s public or catholic leagues on the basketball court.  The games are played at a very high level with bragging rights at stake. The 9th Annual, 2015 BAB Challenge will feature eight of the top New York City boys’ public and catholic high school teams.
